MEET THE BOARD

Boston's diverse communities are represented by BNN's Board of Directors. Board members serve for four years, and come from such varied backgrounds as colleges and universities, arts and media, politics, finance, technology and more. DeWayne LehmanDeWayne Lehman, President —  DeWayne Lehman was appointed to the board of directors in 2003 by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and currently serves as President of the board. Mr. Lehman, a long-time Dorchester resident, has worked as a correspondent, reporter, and editor at various newspapers in Eastern Massachusetts and in Boston. DeWayne LehmanSarah-Ann Shaw, Vice President —  Sarah-Ann Shaw has been an active BNN board member since 2003 representing BNN's community residents. Ms. Shaw was the first newscaster of African descent at WBZ-TV, where she worked as a general assignment reporter from 1969 to her retirement in 2000. During her time at WBZ-TV Ms. Shaw's special reports focused on the importance of providing all people with the same social, economic and educational opportunities. DeWayne LehmanGlenn Williams, Treasurer —  Glenn Williams was appointed to the board of directors in 2003. Mr. Williams, a lifelong resident of Roslindale, is a musician and artist who has dedicated his life to being involved in and promoting the arts. He is the co-founder and host of "It's All About Arts," a multi-discipline arts organization and regular program on BNNLive that promotes local artists. DeWayne LehmanJustin Petty, Clerk —  Justin Petty has been on the BNN board of directors since 2003. He holds a Music Production and Engineering Degree from Berklee College of Music and a Master of Science in Broadcast Administration/Television Management from Boston University. Currently, he holds the record of being the first and youngest tenured professor of Broadcast Media Technology at Roxbury Community College, where he is also the Department Chair of Technology. Mr. Petty is also the owner and founder of Justin Time Productions, a music, audio, video and multimedia production company. To contact Mr. Petty please email jpetty@bnntv.org.
DeWayne LehmanKenan Bigby, Director —  Kenan Bigby was appointed to BNN's board of directors in 2005. Mr. Bigby is an Egleston Square resident, currently working as a Project Manager for Trinity Financial. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Urban Development and Deviance, Law & Social Control at the University of Pennsylvania and studied Real Estate Finance and Investment Fundamentals at Harvard University Extension School. DeWayne LehmanReebee Garofalo, Director —  Reebee Garofalo was elected to the BNN board of directors in 2003. He is a professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he has taught since 1978. Mr. Garofalo is affiliated with the College of Public and Community Service and the American Studies Program. He is an internationally known scholar of popular music studies and author. As the former Associate Dean of CPCS, Mr. Garofalo has been in the forefront of introducing information technology to the college and is the founder of its new degree program in Community Media and Technology. DeWayne LehmanScherazade Daruvalla King, Director —  Scherazade Daruvalla King has been an active board member since 2005. She is the Executive Director of Project: Think Different, a nonprofit organization that uses music, film and video to animate democracy and fuel positive social change. Ms. King is also the president of Empowerment Records, a subsidiary of the Power Company, which is dedicated to the promotion of socially conscious and responsible music. She is interested in using the media arts to bridge the divides, create understanding, and value diversity and each person's important role in creating the world we want to live in. DeWayne LehmanLance Kyed, Director —  Lance Kyed has been an active board member since 2005. Mr. Kyed is the Director of Television Radio & Film Production at Emerson College. He heads up the staff at the college that provides operating support in the areas of film, audio, video and new media for academic programs, co-curricular programs, and The Emerson Television Channels. An Emerson alumnus, Mr. Kyed has been active in the film and video business for over 35 years. Lisa Mansdorf Pollack, Director —  Lisa Mansdorf Pollack is BNN's newest board member, having joined the board in 2006. Ms. Pollack serves as an Account Director for Denterlein Worldwide Public Affairs, where she specializes in navigating the workings of municipal politics, community-based media, and labor relations issues. Ms. Pollack is an accomplished photographer whose work has been used by the Associated Press, the Boston Globe, the Boston Phoenix, Bass Player Magazine, and numerous Boston-area weekly publications. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University and professional accreditation with honors from the New England School of Photography. To contact Ms. Pollack please email lpollack@bnntv.org.
